Olga Tobreluts

Olga Tobreluts works across painting, photography, sculpture and digital media, bringing classical imagery into dialogue with contemporary visual culture.

Born in the Leningrad region in 1970, she trained in architecture before studying computer graphics and animation at ART+COM in Berlin. Her involvement with St. Petersburg’s New Academy of Fine Arts and early experiments in computer-based imagery established her as a pioneer of digital art in Russia.

Her practice reworks mythology, classical sculpture and art-historical references through digital construction and painting. Rather than treating the past as a fixed archive, she transforms familiar images into new visual worlds. In her floral paintings, botanical forms break into geometric planes, rhythms and colour relationships that move between representation and abstraction.

Tobreluts has exhibited internationally, including in Budapest, Hong Kong and Houston. Her work is held in collections including the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
