Amanda Lutiere

Amanda Lutiere is a Brazilian artist based in Budapest whose paintings connect landscape, memory and the experience of belonging.

Raised in São Luís in north-eastern Brazil, Lutiere studied at Eszterházy Károly Catholic University in Eger from 2022 to 2025, earning a BA with support from the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme. Her move to Hungary brought memories of Brazil into dialogue with a new landscape and cultural setting.

In her paintings, nature becomes a protagonist: Hungarian vegetation meets the mangroves of her childhood, while roots, anatomical structures and intuitive symbols form a personal mythology. Working with oil paint, natural pigments and charcoal, she explores how remembered places shape identity and inner experience.

Her series Duas Margens – Um Fluxo (Two Banks – One Flow) develops these themes through organic forms and narrative symbols. Alongside her layered oil paintings, she creates oil pastel drawings shaped by the rhythms of Brazilian music.

“My artistic practice investigates the meeting point between nature and mental states. Through a personal mythology, I create ecosystems where organic forms and intuitive symbols emerge as reflections on presence and transformation.”

“The mangrove appears in my paintings as an emotional architecture, a tangle of lines and roots that support one another under the weight of the mud, directly echoing the systems of bones and joints that I study in human anatomy. It is the fusion of my body and my land.”
